Galaxies are gigantic systems composed of billions of stars, interstellar gas, dust, and the remnants of dying stars, held together by gravity. They occur in a wide variety of forms, including spiral galaxies, elliptical galaxies, and irregular galaxies. The images in this gallery show galaxies that can be captured with my telescopes and optical equipment in the near surroundings of the Milky Way, becoming visible in detail despite their distance of millions of light-years. The goal is not to collect as many images of galaxies as possible, but to enhance the level of detail through long exposures and selective use of filters, revealing even fine structures such a star-forming regions or jets within these galaxies.
