NGC 2903 is a prominent barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo, located at a distance of approximately 21 million light-years from Earth. With an estimated diameter of around 80,000 light-years, it is somewhat smaller than the Milky Way but ranks among the brightest galaxies not included in the Messier catalog in the northern sky.
A defining feature of NGC 2903 is its well-developed central bar, from which several relatively tightly wound spiral arms extend outward. These arms contain numerous bright star-forming regions, young star clusters, and luminous emission nebulae.
NGC 2903 is also considered a relatively isolated system, without strong ongoing interactions with massive companion galaxies. This makes it a prime example of the internal dynamics and star formation of a largely undisturbed spiral galaxy
