Aurora Borealis, also known as Northern Light, is a stunning natural light display in the night sky and also part of astrophotography. It is caused by charged particles from the solar wind that follows Earth’s magnetic field lines and enter the upper atmosphere at the northern and southern polar regions. These particles excite oxygen and nitrogen atoms, which then emit light to produce the characteristic green, red and violet structures in the sky.
The photographs in this gallery were taken in Northern Norway and realized in the same photographic approach as used for wide-field Milky Way photography. The idea is to capture the aurora across the sky in relation to the surrounding landscapes.
