Milky Way Arch over the Tengger Caldera (Bukit Cinta Viewpoint)

Evening settles over the Tengger Caldera with the active volcano Mount Bromo in East Java, as the Milky Way rises above the volcanic complex. The caldera, with a floor elevation of around 2,000 meters, lies above a sea of clouds covering the surrounding landscape. To the left, the village of Cemoro Lawang appears along the rim of the caldera, its lights glowing in the darkness. The panorama was captured from the Bukit Cinta viewpoint between 9 and 10 p.m. at an altitude of 2,500 meters. In the distance, Mount Semeru — at 3,676 meters the highest mountain on Java — can be seen, its summit faintly glowing with a reddish hue.
